The Full Story
Be BiteSmart
Be BiteSmart is an educational initiative of the Center for Canine Behavior Studies specifically tasked to create age-appropriate multimedia teaching materials to reduce and prevent the risk of dog bites to our most at risk, children. Family dogs are our trusted friends however, when provoked, threatened, confused or scared they can and do bite to protect themselves. By understanding how dogs communicate and interpreting their behavior, can help us recognize early warning signs and adjust our actions to prevent bites before they occur.
Be BiteSmart operates under the guidance of world-renowned veterinarian Professor Emeritus Nicholas Dodman and in collaboration with a team of highly qualified professionals and creative specialists to help families identify important dog behaviors and maintain a safe and loving environment. We are proud to introduce the first of a series of ten lessons below in English and Spanish. Videos are accompanying coloring books are free.
